💔 A heartbreak beyond words… 💔 As the waters rose in Texas, so many innocent lives were taken… Children. Parents. Grandparents whose stories ended far too soon in the devastating floods that swept through communities.

Unimaginable Loss Strikes Texas Communities

When disaster strikes, it often leaves our hearts aching for those whose lives are changed forever. The recent catastrophic floods in Texas have brought unimaginable loss to so many families and communities. As tumultuous waters rose rapidly, innocence and promise were swept away far too soon – children, parents, grandparents, mentors, and heroes, each a world to someone, each a cherished soul lost in the blink of an eye.

Heroes Emerge Amid Tragedy

Entire communities rallied together as rescue teams and everyday neighbors braved raging conditions to save as many people as they could. Countless acts of courage unfolded amid chaos: teachers guiding children to safety, fathers risking everything for their families, counselors and volunteers standing between danger and the young lives entrusted to their care. Still, the magnitude of this tragedy has left an unfillable void.

Remembering the Camp Mystic Angels

We pause today to honor the memories of those tragically lost, especially the bright young girls from Camp Mystic: Hanna Lawrence (8), Rebecca Lawrence (8), Lila Bonner (9), Eloise Peck (8), Hadley Hanna (8), Virginia "Wynne" Naylor (8), Renee Smajstrla (8), Sarah Marsh, Janie Hunt (9), Abby Pohl (8), Mary Grace Baker (8), Anna Margaret Bellows (8), Mary Stevens (8), Greta Toranzo (10), and Blakely McCrory (8). Their counselors, Chloe Childress (18), and volunteers like Dick Eastland (70) and Jane Ragsdale, made sacrifices that will never be forgotten.

More Lives Cut Short

We remember others whose stories ended far too soon: Malaya Grace Hammond (17), who courageously sang for her siblings as they sought safety; Brooke Harber (11) and Blair Harber (13); Sally Sample Graves (91); Julian Ryan, a father whose last act was heroic; Jeff Wilson and Katheryn Eads, educators; Reece and Paula Zunker, coach and beloved wife; Tanya Burwick, a local worker; and the Santana family – Camille, Mila (5), Illeana (66), and Eddie Sr. (69), who represented three generations lost in one night.

A Community United in Grief

These names are only part of the heartbreak. Some remain missing, and anxious families cling to hope while search-and-rescue efforts continue. Each individual lost was more than a statistic – they were daughters, sons, friends, teachers, mentors, heroes, deeply loved, and loving in return.

Let us lift their families in our thoughts and prayers, and offer every possible support. Grief encompasses an entire community – friends, neighbors, first responders, and all who mourn together. To stand together, in memory of those we've lost, is to let compassion guide us through the darkness.

How You Can Help

For those looking to help, please consider donating to local relief organizations and shelters. Your generosity can bring comfort and support to those rebuilding their lives, providing essentials, shelter, and hope during this most difficult time.

As dusk settles, let us cherish those around us, recognizing how quickly life can change. May the souls of all departed find eternal peace, and may we, the living, honor them by holding our own loved ones closer – and never forgetting the power of kindness, love, and remembrance.
