Every year, Ajax recognizes its most promising young player with the prestigious Abdelhak Nouri Trophy. For the 2024/2025 season, that honor goes to 17-year-old midfielder Sean Steur from Volendam.
Sean Steur Honored at Sportcomplex De Toekomst
The award was presented at the beating heart of Ajax's youth setup: Sportcomplex De Toekomst. There, Mohammed Nouri, the father of Abdelhak Nouri, and Director of Football Marijn Beuker personally handed the trophy to Steur.
Beuker praised Steur: "Your season began with the U19's, but you quickly showed you were ready for the next step. We moved you up to Jong Ajax, and you have continued your development there. I am very pleased with the collective decision to name you Talent of the Year."
Mohammed Nouri added: "You've worked hard for this trophy and truly deserved it. Honestly, my children have become fans of yours. If you continue developing like this, you'll definitely reach the top." These heartfelt words moved Steur, who responded, "Thank you for the kind words. I never got to know Appie personally—I was very young when tragedy struck in 2017. I have great respect for Appie and for you. I know he was not just a fantastic player, but also a wonderful person, which is just as important. I've seen some excellent players win this award before me, and it's incredible to be among them now."
